Egg and Potato salad

Crazy over eggs. I've always loved egg salads. Especially when it's sandwiched between 2 slices of wheat bread. It's heavenly. The taste of egg, a bit of mayo and a dash of pepper and some herbs, and when they get mashed in my mouth, it just brings me pure joy. My aunt used to make simple egg salads, but I, here, love to tweak recipes so that it makes for a new recipe that I can proudly call my own. ;-)
Then, one day, I was reading this food magazine and found this egg and potato salad recipe. I missed out on a few ingredients (maybe purposely so I can call this original) but then was disappointed with myself because it really came out bland. Had to salvage the whole thing by way of adding a few things, here and there.
8 hard boiled eggs, peeled and cubed
8 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and cubed
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup cooked ham bits
1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp oregano (i prefer basil but then i ran out)

In a big mixing bowl, toss all ingredients and chill before serving. Serves 8.
Had a mouthful before finally sending this to the chilly cave of our fridge. Yummy!

Cheers!

Camera

The first camera I ever used was a blue bar film camera which made grainy pictures. But it was a camera, nonetheless, and I was always excited to shoot anything with it, though I was more excited to be the subject of the shoot. Then came highschool, my aunt abroad sent me a solar powered film camera. It was really light but it did what it supposed to do. The pictures were better than grainy. And then my mom got a Canon Autoboy. The pictures were perfect! (at least at that time it was) I could almost see my pores in the photos. Well, almost. From then on, my mom and I got really serious with taking pictures that we even bought coffee table photo books and learned everything on our own. I was her model, and my mom prided in herself that she could take a more-than-decent shot.

It's been a long time since my mom and I got crazy over taking pictures. But my longing to have a good camera didn't fade. I want to take up photography classes and hopefully invest in a good camera body and a couple of lenses.
This is a Canon EOS Rebel XSi EF-S. I haven't really digested the specs and all but I have seen the end results and heard that this one's really good. It's tagged at $699, a mouthful really, and to say that I can't afford this is an understatement.
Now this what I call a dream. A 12 megapixel digital cam that can go underwater as deep as 10 meters. I can only imagine the things I can do with this and the places I can go with this.
This one's a real dream. When I was a kid, I could only wish for a Polaroid and now that I'm a grown up all I could ever do is still wish for a Polaroid. Hahaha. It's tagged at $200. I will get this as soon as I have saved money from oDesk.

If I had all these 3 cameras... The Polaroid will be used on spontaneous events, the D10 for my adventures and the DSLR for those planned shoots. I will, of course, also use them interchangeably. Hahaha! So much for fantasizing.
How about you? What's your kind of camera? Hit me with your thoughts. Cheers!

Weight Loss: The Plan

I've been feeling a little bit heavy lately and it doesn't help to see my back with that back shot I did on my previous entry. I look like I have a salbabida around my waist. Hahaha! So today, I thought of making a goal for myself. Lose 15lbs by March. And how? By eating the healthier option and keeping my portions in check. Sounds like a plan, an easy plan, but will it work for me? I am an emotional eater. I eat when I get sad, and sometimes I don't eat at all. I go on binge eating; I could eat half of a birthday cake when I want to. I could finish the icing on the whole cake when I want to. And after feeling severely full, what goes in backfires out. Unhealthy? Very. This whole thing isn't really focused on losing weight, though, losing the weight would really be nice and keeping it off would be great. It's more about being healthy overall and making healthy choices when it comes to food... and life in general. Too deep? Hahaha. Time to go now. Eat healthy! Cheers!
